Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Unique MGF wheels

Post by diesel destroyer » Sun Mar 09, 2014 7:52 pm

It's hard to be different.. Limited choice of wheels in 95.25 PCD..

Adapter kits available widen the choice to 4x100..

But I think I can be safe at a meet/show that no other F or TF will have these on

Supra wheels.. 17".. On my custom flanges and custom front n rear brakes

The Merc SL500 Brembo callipers on the 333mm discs look huge behind these 17s

The rear 312 mm vented Audi TT Quattro front discs with the Hi Spec 2 pot callipers (complete with Jag S type electric hand brake) fill the holes much better than the 240mm solid bottle tops

I think my personal preference would be silver, but on this build, it's very much in keeping I think. And yes, they certainly show off the monster brake discs don't they?

Now that's a set of stoppers that would warrant a GF Meter.

I think the red looks great, and it would be consistent with the rest of your quite stunning build.

When will this fabulous car be ready??

Such an impressive build- I took ages last night to re-read your entire build posts again. Would love to see this car close up when it's done.

Not a bad job list of remaining things to do either, when completed is there another project on the horizon?? What's next??

Weirdly I'm going completely the opposite route and returning my car to absolutely bog standard exactly as it left the factory for MG90- it's only mildly modified to begin with but only because it's going to be in the timeline with 90 other period correct MG's, so would somebody shoot me please as I'm starting to sound like an MG purist which will never do at all!

That said, completely in awe of this build, as far as the wheels are concerned, go red...you know you want to!

I went the same way with my 1971 Lambretta. Had it 'custom' styled for many years before going back to factory spec but with an uprated engine. I like the 'wolf in sheep's clothing' idea even though it is only a hair-dryer.

Stuart.. Next project will be my house.. 1968 chalet style 4 bed detached.. In desperate need of dragging into the 21st century

I've added one custom (no surprise there) 5 foot x 2foot skylight to the 16ft high hallway ceiling.. Plan to add another 3 in the kitchen.. Balcony on the main bedroom (home made steel affair) plus add 2 en suites.. Those who know me well know I never stop.. I don't do sitting down lol

Got two bedrooms downstairs which will each get French doors to let light in and give access to patio'd area

Property has a lot of scope for development etc.. Got a 13'x19' lounge which over looks my secure front garden (1000 sq ft stoned area behind gates) so plan to add 3 large folding doors.. So I can sit (unlikely for long) in the lounge and look at the finished car from inside..

Long term plan with the house.. Unlike the car.. Is do it up and sell it at a profit.. Then move to something smaller with little/no mortgage

You should do a Chris Evans and have indoor parking to admire your motors! ;)
