Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Bonnet Release Cable
Can anyone help with the advice on what do do with broken bonnet release cable. Nightshifts, demisting and the hard frost last night have killed the battery and I can't open it to recharge as cable has gone loose/snapped.

Re: Bonnet Release Cable
1) try getting someone to bounce on the front edge of the bonnet as you pull the lever, it sometimes works.
2) as a temporary get out of jail solution you can charge the battery by connecting your charger positive to the starter or the alternator and the earth direct to the body.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: Bonnet Release Cable
Tried the bouncing earlier but no joy and I have a very loose release handle and a lot of wire.
Sadly the cigarette lighter is u/s, it was on the list to fix/replace at next mot/service.
Sounds like I call the RAC.

Re: Bonnet Release Cable
If only you know it is there , it would be handy for security checks on the campsites in Le Mans just pop the bonnet and show them we have no beer whilst revving the engine

Sorted! charging nicely. At least I can get mobile again and actually drive it to garage to get service and cable fixed.

Re: Bonnet Release Cable
You're more than welcome.
With the car on a lift a mechanic should be able to reach the bonnet latch.
