Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

MGF Remote fob
Hi everyone,
I have a1999 MGF SE VVC, and I want to get a new remote fob.
Rimmers seem to list two different parts, and I don't know how to tell which one matches my car.
The first one they list is part number YWX101220A. It is for 433MHz alarm.
The second one listed is for 315MHz alarm.
How can I tell which one I need?
Many thanks!
Crash dummy.

Japanese are 315mhz, I think Australia is the same.
It should say on the back of your fob.

Re: MGF Remote fob
Yes, the Australian market cars along with Japanese market, were 315MHz. If your car was native to those markets, that is the one to get.
You can also check what you have. See http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/DIY/se ... /index.htm - your existing fob will have a transmitter/resonator with a code printed on it - 1239 resonator signifies a 315MHz transponder, and 1207 a 433MHz unit.

Re: MGF Remote fob
Anyone with a pscan can do it (worth buying one if you are intending to keep the car for a while - it'll soon pay for itself )
Re: MGF Remote fob
Thanks Rob - appreciated.
Where would I buy one from?
Thanks again

Tim,
I know a good guy in Pascoe Vale who has a T4 and can program the fobs. Would that work for you?
Cheers,
