Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Tonneau covers

Post by radiomarty » Tue Dec 18, 2012 7:41 am

I have a mark 1 MGF and am trying to find a tonneau cover to fit - I understand there are two types ie one that clips in at the back of the hood and one that goes into the boot lid - my question is will both of them fit my mark 1 and which is the best type - many thanks Marty

Both types will fit, but go for the MK2 type (boot lid channel).

I've had both types & the earlier type isn't a good fit.

Hope this helps.

The only difference is the press studs on the T bar. The earlier tonneau cover had press studs x 3 whereas the later one (that fits under the boot lid) has one press stud in the centre and an open ring at each side - you have to change the T bar fittings to accommodate them but you can find them on Fleabay and elsewhere for a few shillings.

I did use the tonneau cover quite frequently last year but to be honest, this year it stayed in the cellar most of the time. I do not remember using it at all, probably because it was quite wet over here as well as it was in Britain. Not using the t.c. means you can just pull up the hood from the driver's seat in case it starts to rain - even in traffic.

If you haven't already got one, I'd rather spend the dough on a decent wind stop.
