Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Rolling Road and Z&F MEMS3 re-tune Day?

Post by Rob Bell » Tue Mar 19, 2013 12:10 pm

Just wondering about who'd be interested in coming along for a rolling road day? I am thinking of using the same rolling road that Paul recently made use of when he had his Emerald fitted. They're in Slough and would charge 35 quid a car for 10-15 cars (plus supply tea and biscuits). They use a DynoDynamics load cell which are very accurate and reproducible instruments, but can't measure transmission losses - so are fine for calculating power at the wheels, measuring when you've made changes to specification and comparing otherwise identical cars (tyres/gearbox/geometry differences permitting).

If there are around 15 of us interested, I'll get on and book for us all.

I know dyno days are popular with mgf.be do why not here in the uk as well

Us v8 boys had one a while ago at Janspeed and it was a good day out 8-)

Yep, I'm interested, I like tea and biscuits :thumbsu:

As long as I'm in the country, there's a lot of good European events this year.

Colin, sorry, should have said, Paul used Novatech in Slough - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14279

There's always one coffee drinker isn't there? Yes, no problem!

Need to think about dates. They can do weekends, which is a relief. When would be good for everyone?

If you don't mind checking the events calendar as a guide Rob, I'm ok for most other days unless we're away for a few days break.

Hmmm interesting...I've already bought the induction kit (as yet unfitted), hankering after a daytona exhaust and am planning a Z&F remap, so a before and after comparison would be good- plus it'd be good to put faces to names etc too ay?

Most importantly it really comes down to the quality of biscuits on offer :D

Rob,

Will it simply be a day to get a power figure for your car or will they be able to undertake a little tuning? This might be a strange request, but Jo's Metro could do with a tune up as it pinks a bit and I think a session on a rolling road would be the way to go...

Basically yes, it's a power figure day - so good to set a base line before mods, or establish a new baseline after. I've not asked, but I am sure that a quick tune could be accommodated Nigel. I'll drop them an email to see whether this can be done. I am guessing this is an A-Series (MG?) Metro?

Chaps, I'll ensure no clashes with the Register calendar! :)

So far I count:
1. Me ;)
2. Hainsie
3. Adrian
4. MaddAussie
5. Stuart (I'll buy a packet of Hobknobs for you ;))
6. Nigel (Metro tuning)

So we're around half way there - Colin, as you planning on joining us? :)

I'd like to come along but the only snag will be my shift pattern as I have to work a lot of weekends, but if this falls on a "rest" day I'll be there :thumbsu: .

I am interested as long as I am available on what ever date it ends up being. It would be good to see how the old Girl is doing after 17years!
