Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

The custom made rear anti roll bar is on.. But not happy with the drop links.. So currently toying with rose joints to match the front..

Still waiting in my Mike Satur adjustable rear arms.. Then the car can go back on the floor..

The second fuel pump (Bosch 044) is plumbed.. But needs mounting..

Once the engine is running the rest is plain sailing.. 50 hours on tick over.. Then swap oil (its a brand new engine so need running in) then its 1000 miles at no more than 3,000 rpm.. Then off to get it mapped at Emerald

Stretching those rear arches out 10mm per side took about 8 hours a side to get looking right.. Drivers side in finished paint.. Passenger side will be finished this weekend coming

Once the back box is built and on.. The rear diffuser can be finished too

Plan on mounting the second fuel pump this weekend.. It's plumbed.. But not mounted..

Wiring loom still taking forever.. Wow a loom is heavy!!

Swap the correct shafts in this weekend too and gear box oil can go in.. Yay!

Engine oil can go in.. Maybe this weekend..

It's getting there slowly

A big day for me will be 11th of July when the first 'adjustable volume' three centre exit MGF exhaust gets made.. Talk about xmas

Just read this from start to finish.
I've came across. this car on the social media. It's good that there is a build thread on here.

Respect for all the work (and dosh) invested in this.

I am not convinced the track, show and journeys combo is possible, but I am here to get convinced.

Cheers

It does show dedication and deserves a lot of respect.

Allan has posted more info in other threads here and on the T bar.

I've been reading bits and pieces but have now just read the entire thing.

Wow! I love what you have done to the car and cannot wait to see the finished product (like everyone else I suspect). Excellent level of workmanship and attention to detail. Keep going, nearly there!

Cheers Ken..

Main build thread is a blog on Facebook now.. If anyone wants to be added to it.. Find me (Allan Chambers) my profile pic is the red interior shot of my car..

It's evolved a lot since I first removed the dead steppy box.. And any planned budget gone out of the window..

Kinda dragged this F into the 21st century.. Auto wipers, auto lights, auto DRLS, no keys, no locks, no handles, tracker, variable volume exhaust, 220-230 bhp (fingers crossed) bigger better brakes all round, custom anti roll bars and suspension set up...

A bit of a 'labour of love'

New seats should be here mid week from Germany..

Allan

Few random pics from past week or so...

It's always been my plan to run 2 sets of wheels.. Summer with cut slicks.. And winter wheels with suitable tyres

I've fallen in love with the rims on this Liberty Walk 458...

So have found something very close.. By Oz.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALLOY-WHEEL-L ... 4d1c18b365

Down side is the price.. But good news is they are light weight.

Currently in talks with a company about getting them 'red chromed' so they look like the 458 wheels.

Again rears will be 18x8 fronts 17x7.5

For any that missed the exhaust..

This was custom built by Roar Power in Birmingham to allow me to make the exhaust loud/quiet from inside the cabin.. Via a 12v operated flap.. 3 seconds from full open to fully shut..

In quiet mode only the two outer pipes work.. In loud mode the centre pipe opens (pre silencer) for some deep noise ;)

Got both fuel pumps wired yesterday.. Cheers to Kevin for the MGF fuel pump plug :D

Also got the auto window closure window module wired to close both windows when key card goes out of range

Sprayed the front bumper again but needs another 2 coats then flatting and polishing

Flatted the bonnet with 1000, 1200 then 3000 pads.. Then G6 and then G12 compounds on the relevant heads..

It's getting there
