Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

MGF water leak.
Hi.
I pressure tested m cooling system this afternoon and I'm getting drips where the engine meets the gear box. Is there a core plug on this side of the engine, if so, how easy is it together to? If not any other suggestions

Re: MGF water leak.
I think you need to take off the engine access cover to see exactly where the leak is - there's a lot of plumbing on that side of the engine.
MGF water leak.
I removed the cover and had a good look. It's the inlet manifold gasket leaking. Is there a how to anywhere what tells you how to do it?
TIA

Re: MGF water leak.
The inlet manifold uses a silicone gasket which should be available from the usual stockists. It's not a difficult job to remove the manifold after you've taken off the airbox etc. It only bolts to the head. You haven't stated what model your car is - mpi or VVC - the inlets are different (as are the gaskets), but the principle is the same. If you go to the site home page you can buy a workshop manual... be careful regarding overtightening the studs and do them up in the right order.

I had a similar issue with coolant loss recently and my initial thoughts were inlet manifold gasket.. that was replaced but the real culprit was the thermostat housing.. the thermostat sealing ring had hardened and failed causing weeping at the centre joint.. the O rings were also hardened, whilst you have access check your coolant rail for perforations... its not uncommon for the rust beetle to feed there.
