Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Battery conditioner

Post by radiomarty » Mon Nov 25, 2013 5:48 pm

Having just lost my year old battery due to infrequent use (luckly replaced under warranty) can anybody recommend a battery conditioner suitable for leaving on an F without disconnecting - Many thanks Marty

there are a number of different types on the market, some do "condition" batteries and some "intelligent" ones keep small charge going in to the battery, depends on how much you have to spend as the conditioning types can be very expensive. personally I use a oxford maximiser that originally bought to go on the motorbike battery which I have just had to replace after 11 years of use, I just switch from bike to car once in a while.

A lot of people on here do

I don't but would get one next time around

The discount I mentioned above I think is via Hamilton Classics who sell them and give MGCC Members a discount 8-)

I plumbed the connector in under the bonnet so it is connect and go.
Some models have a live cigar lighter socket with ignition OFF but not all.
