Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

MGF Fobs & Keys
Recently got an 2002/1 MGF but its come with only 1 key and fob. I have a suspicion that the fob maybe starting to play up but anyway, I am nervous in only having just the one set. Ideally, I want 2 extra sets of fobs & keys although I don't think the latter will be too much of a problem. I have come across someone who will do keys by code although I can't find the code, it isn't on the only key that we have. It's the fobs that are a problem. Being the shape it is, I understand the fob to be the Lucas type. Other than that, I am lost. From earlier posts, it may be that some members have access to kit to program up fobs? I am in the Bath area if anyone near is able to help??? All other help would be appreciated....

You could try Paul Brown @ http://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk Although in Brighton he does a great one day turnaround...

Re: MGF Fobs & Keys
Hi and welcome to the forum
Paul is highly recomended for coding fobs.
I beleive he also supplies new fobs.
Any used Lucas fob can be programmed to any 5AS alarm ECU.
You can get an original MG key blank from Sussex MG and get your local key cutter to cut it for you.

Re: MGF Fobs & Keys
I only had one for my old F - I called the local ex-Rover dealer, they still had all the kit to get the code from the car & charged me 20 quid to program up a new fob, I got a new blank fob from eBay, tons of people selling them.

Re: MGF Fobs & Keys
£20 was a very good price, most places would want 4 or 5 times as much.
Paul/technozen will also give you the emergancy imobolizer override code.
