Toyo Tyres
I have just bought two new Toyo Proxes T1R 215/40/16 tyres for my 2001 MGF VVC, and intend having them fitted during the week. However I have noticed that they were made in Malaysia and not Japan. Is this a problem as I have noticed that the recommended Toyo tyres say Made in Japan?

Re: Toyo Tyres
From what I have read, it is not recommended to fit a mixture of Malaysian and Japanese made tyres on the same car. They are different and some people have had handling issues with a mix. All Malaysian or all Japanese if fine.

Many thanks Keith, I will be getting the other two tyres from the same dealer so will check to make sure they originate from Malaya.

Re: Toyo Tyres
From a previous post...
"The new Toyo's are made in Malasia and don't mix well with Japanese Toyo's.. I think its an ongoing thing..It's only an issue if the new Malaysian Toyos are fitted on the rear with Japanese Toyos on the front...all other configurations should be fine...I spoke to Toyo Tech Director and he confirmed they have reformulated the tyre compound to conform to new EU requirements and the tyres are now manufactured in Malaysia.
I have T1-Rs from Malaysia on the front and Japanese on the rear...and have no issues...and when the rears wear down I'll get the new Malaysian ones fitted and should still have no issues...if you are replacing the rears only you will have an issue.". .

Re: Toyo Tyres
I have spoken to my tyre dealer and he says that all his Toyos are made in Malaysia, so its looks like I will have a full set of Malaysian Toyo tyres when I change the rears following the front change this week. The rears are currently of uncertain parentage and are on the list of "to do's".
