Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Post by cococola » Tue Jul 05, 2016 11:19 am

I went to the cars in the park show at the weekend and I saw an MGTF with elasticated door pockets fitted and wonder nwhere these maybe available?

Yes - aftermarket. The ones I have were from Newton Commercial - they may still have them. The other elasticated version is available from Mike Satur.

A rigid plastic door "pocket" and drink holder was also available at one stage - no idea whether it still is? It was pretty pricy!

Edit: found this picture of the rigid plastic variety - Peter took it:

Resurrecting this thread.

The rigid ones are very expensive for what they are, I've got a pair of door pockets off my old Golf mk2 Gti which are about the right length, I'm going to experiment and see if I can trim them to fit.

Quite cheap on e- bay

Almost exactly the right depth and length, but will need some trimming around the speaker housing.

Daz

Looks possible, a bit long,it overlaps the speaker somewhat, and will need trimming to fit the door curvature, I will take the door-card off this week and report back !

Yep Daz....Job done over the weekend.

I had to cut a hole in the door panel to fit the opening box at the front, and the back of the Golf units took a lot of trimming to fit, but they look OK.

Thanks Daz.

it really is a quite easy mod,i had to take about 1/2" off the full length of the bottom of the Golf panel, and the trimming of the top of the box bit to the contours of the doorcard takes time, the only downside is that the box bit overlaps the speaker , but I had to do this as otherwise I couldn't open the box with the door closed, as it was up against the side of the seat.
