Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Seized bolt - RH engine mounting bracket
On an F, cam belt change. Requirement to undo the right hand engine mounting bracket. One bolt came out easily but the other is solid and I mean windy gun, scaffold tube, heat and violence solid. I'm sure others have been here before me so prior to embarking on extreme measures is there a method that could bring about a release?

Re: Seized bolt - RH engine mounting bracket
Do you mean the two long bolts that fix the aluminium engine mount carrier to the front end of the subframe? I have had to replace one of mine as the outermost one had sheared off just above the captive nut. Whilst it's not easy to get to I managed to remove the captive nut from below with the angle grinder and a windy chisel and replace the stud. I have fitted the new one from below to keep the threads out of the way of the elements. All the others were replaced using copaslip to ensure no future seizures. and from underneath (beware of the hydragas pipe) :
You can actually change the cam belt by just releasing the engine mount from the block and raising the engine on a trolley jack. This allows you to thread the belt through although removing the carrier entirely does make access to the tensioner and water pump that much easier.

Re: Seized bolt - RH engine mounting bracket
It was the engine mount / block that we're trying to release - as you say, to change the cam belt. Two bolts side by site. There is a cautionary tale here. I left the car with a guy to free the bolt. I visited earlier. He's taken a hammer to the body work to improve access for an angle grinder.... This is a professional motor engineer. I'm fuming. It's taken me the best part of a year to find a car with excellent bodywork and the very first job to be done on it....

Remove the whole of the engine mount alloy casting. Two bolts at the front ( one of them is the one I replaced, two at the rear (move the header tank to improve access and then do your repairs on the bench. Your mechanic is a fekking Neanderthal.
