Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Cold air feed

Post by Fourbears » Sun Apr 09, 2017 8:01 pm

I am missing the front cold air feed off my airbox in my TF. Does anyone know what diameter the hole is? I don't want to take the engine cover off just to measure it but if I have to I will!

Errr I did measure this a while ago and I assume you mean the one near the back of the engine bay as the the one nearer the front of the car seems to have a special collar that allows it to fit?

The O/d of the elbow the protrudes from the rear is 55mm or thereabouts, I think it is 56mm exactly - I only know this as I'm going to be buying some 55mm I/d aluminium ducting to go to the N/s Vent and recall having to get the ducting 1mm smaller that I needed which isn't an issue

Hi no I mean the front one which faces the passenger seat. Looking at an exploded view it seems there should be an angled pipe with a trumpet on which goes down towards the bottom of the car. I have measured the hole and it appears to be 65mm internal diameter. I was hoping I might be able to get some pipe to go between the N/S vent and the airbox.

Yeah there is an angled pipe as you say with some rubber retaining flaps on it that hold it into the hole you refer to - I debated a similar idea but decided that I'd get cold air from the N/s vent to the rear intake hole and I just redirected the OE pipe on the front of the box to the bottom of the car - I'll try find the picture for you

It's dark down there so hard to get good pictures I am sorry to say but you can see the black intake hose strapped to the subframe
