Assuming you have put a new battery in the key fob by now,
lock and unlock the doors about 8 times.

Do this with the hood open in case you lock yourself out in the process.

if it doesn't work after 8-10 lock/unlocks then something deeper is wrong.

Engine was out to do head gasket and remote thermo .. and you have to ship with engine/tranny OUT to ship to USA.( box 2a on DOT form and box W on the EPA form.. . as it was NOT old enough to import to USA yet.. later b c

To post a picture use full editor and you will see a tab below the box to type in that is labeled uploads. Click on tab and attach photo.

You may discover that the ECU has lost sync with the fob and requires a T4 reset. I had this a few months ago with a TF which resulted in being recovered to a garage for a reset.

The cost of recovery and garage charge out rates will be more than offset by the small cost of the pscan.

If you are a garage I suggest you acquire a PSCAN or T300 as you will benefit from all its options including being able to program new key fobs
I presume you will at some stage wish to sell the car then service it.
An OBD2 scanner will not be of any use with an early MEMS ECU
Also the PSCAN is registered to a max of 2 PC's so the chance of someone lending you one is less than slim
Either tool will give you diagnostic info so spend some $$$
