Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!

Suggestions for dash cam for my TF
Hi everyone,
After my last experience with a motorist in Belgium I have decided to go for a dash cam in my TF.
I am looking for a rather small example to be fitted near the rear mirror as I hate having these kind of things in my view.
I would be happy for any suggestions.
Price shouldn't be more than 100£.

£100 buys a lot of dashcam nowadays.
The one I have for personal use was a £15 cheapie from ebay, does the job when I remember to use it.
The one in the truck was supplied by the company and is built into the satnav, I would recommend it but they are nearer £300.
It records a split screen of video and map so you can pinpoint exactly where the video was filmed.

A compact alternative is one built into the rear view mirror.

I have a cheapy off ebay in my mg and in our family car we have aclip on rear view mirror which incorperates the camera in it, this also was off ebay and cost me £28...alot more discreet but you may have to buy a memory card for it.

If you buy a Nextbase dash cam (very good IMO), you can hard wire it without using the 12v socket:

You can put a 2nd outlet in the glove box or buy a "Y" connector for the standard socket giving 2 outlets.Helsbyman wrote:I would also like a dash cam but the wiring is a no no as I have a sat nav in my ciggy socket
