Hi,
I have a MGF Steptronic with 50k miles & recently when the car went for new lower arms & a general check, it was noticed the gearbox was leaking. After it was looked at for a bit the guy who looked at it (MGR specialists) said it was leaking from the speed sensor & suggested replacing the seal.
So I am told the seals are not available, but I wondered who else had experienced this issue & how they had overcome it? I'm sure there must be an alternative seal to use??
Another issue I get with the gearbox; from cold, start the car, put into drive & the car dies. Restart, put into drive then its fine. The only way I'm able to stop the car from stalling as described above is to put the car in reverse for a second, then drive & all is fine. THe other way is run the car in park until warm then its fine.
Another issue; I can be driving along quite happily & without warning the orange gearbox light comes on, the "D" disappears & after a few seconds all returns to normal. During this time the car drives fine.
The only error code is gearbox adaptions out of range. I have performed a full reset a couple of times. This latter symptom doesnt happen often but I mention these in case everything is linked.
I hope someone can help. I have a deep love for my car & don't want to see it stranded for the sake of a seal. Its not dropping fluid but the gearbox is wet
I hope someone can help

Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

It comes with the sensor assembly at £132. or source a used one.
3 Options,
Take it out and source from a hydraulic supplier.
Visit your MINI Dealership as they used the same box.
