Engine management light

Hi all I need to clear the engine warning light off the dash , clear the ecu memory the light came on and the fault investigated but I can't clear the light is there a trick to sort the problem.

The problem is with my 2001 mgf 18i I'm based in Welling kent.

If the issue making the MIL come on is solved, the light should usually go out after 5 decent running circles. The fault codes are not cleared, though, they will be stored in the fault memory as “historic”. If it stays on, there might be some other problem, so a PScan session is highly recommended.

Thanks for all the help we know the fault is a miss read from the lamba sensor bank 1 but the five grand code reader we have used is unable to clear the error code.
Someone suggested disconnecting the battery and make a circuit by holding - and the + leads together thus clearing the memory sounds a bit like witchcraft to me but what can it hurt to try any thoughts.

Errm, no. And it might hurt, as you never know if any devices (aftermarket radios) have a buffer battery that could suffer.
