Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Might be worth having a look in your local breakers, if you can find a good section to cut out and use.

Re: new repair panels - MGF
Real “repair panels” are not available, just the full rear wing (ALH460080 and ALH460090), which are in stock at Rimmer’s. For 355 quid each. Ouch.
I’d go and see a decent bodyshop with an experienced welder, who can surely cut and shape some sheet material to fit. Also, any rust spot in the sill area needs to be carefully inspected, as these usually rust from the inside out.

Thanks for the info and replys
I agree at £355 each I think a good bodyshop welder could fabricate me something recycled out of an old Lamborghini panel or the like

If using Lamborghini panels you'd be better with a fibre glass fabricator.

Radford Panels will hand replicate any panel or section that you may want. They made many parts for Ann's Sunbeam Stiletto with the smaller parts made up by the Body Shop Panel Beater.
One warning is that the cost may well be a multiple of any value that your car may ever be worth.

Re: new repair panels - MGF
The panels are made by Motor Heritage (they who make new body shells for Midgets, MGBs and TR6s). Shop around if a whole panel is needed, otherwise fabricate a smaller repair panel - in most part, it is single curvature

Re: new repair panels - MGF
I have some great pictures of a magazine project MGF that had completely new exterior panels - which means some interesting pictures of what hides behind the panel work!
I transferred my old PC archive across to my laptop. I'll see if I can dig it out and post it

Re: new repair panels - MGF
Don't be: it's mostly hollow box section. Whether there's most rot behind is another question - but hopefully nothing too extensive.

Re: new repair panels - MGF
The best way to join the new panel to the existing is by forming a shallow flange so the flange on the new panel fits behind the existing. You drill several 1/4" holes in the existing panel and then MiG weld through the holes. The joint is skimmed with "jam".
You can buy a flange forming tool on the bay of E or elsewhere:

Re: new repair panels - MGF
To be honest the rust on the trumpet was pretty funny as it was everywhere pretty much the entire right cill had gone and all jacking points which a previous owner had filled with a concrete like substance very helpful

Re: new repair panels - MGF
A stick welder probably would be a bit much for thin body panels. MIG would be much easier!
