Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Finally, the MG is back on the road.
Due to massive rebuidls and refurbisment of my house, the time to fix it was not there, but
last week we got the time, and i think i was Lucky. The head and liners was o.k., but the HG was not.
There was no oil in the Water, but as you know, Water in the oil, but now it runs fine, had a Little
spin in it today, so hope this HG will last as long as the old one, 14 years and 97000 km.
All the best to you all.

Good news - was the old gasket steel with steel dowels? I am sure the new one is and should be worth more than just 97ks!

UPDATE

So, the car has been running a couple of times now, and the water is just on the mark, so think
we did the trick.

@Neil. We will be over in September, so hope to see you by then. I will keep you posted when
we get it all sorted.

@Charles I fitted the old style HG, as I don`t think the MLS is good for older engines. There was steel dowels with the old gasket,
and new steel dowels fitted with the new gasket. Not long ago, i was reading the that HG is now a service item, øhhh,
can`t remember where, but they said it should be changed round 90000 km, so not bad with 97000 km on the old gasket,
if this is right.

@Nigel You can`t even imagine how much i missed it, especially with the spring and summer that have been in Denmark this year,
but will make up for it now.

All the best to your all,

Elèn & Kjeld
