Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Parking sensors ~ where does the feed come from?

Post by nigelandjo » Sat Feb 17, 2018 7:24 am

Does anyone know where the feed comes from to switch the parking sensors on? I've swapped the unit from the boot with another car and it works fine, so I'm guessing it's either a faulty earth or the unit is not getting a power feed when reverse is engaged. Is there a switch on the gearbox? Any ideas before I start looking?

This is aftermarket installation I assume. Usual way to get feed for parking sensors system is from reverse bulb feed.

There is a Reverse Switch on the manual gearbox with a Green/Brown wire to the reverse lights.

If the reverse lights work the sensor should.

As already said the feed comes from the reverse light, earth to the chassis, probably via the rear light cluster.
