Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Obtaining a second spare key and 'immobilizer' turn off for MGF

Post by MarkB » Thu Mar 15, 2018 8:22 am

Hi, recently purchased 2nd MGF - 2001. Came with only one key and immobilizer turn off (match fob to the receiver on the steering column).

How do I get a spare key and correctly programmed immobilizer turn off fob?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The key is easy, you just get a new blank, any key cutter should be able to do it.
Make sure you et the correct blank, the MGF, TF and Maestro version is different to the ZS and ZR one.
There is a company called Sussex MG in Partridge Green just south of Horsham who can supply them, they may also carry the fob.

I have managed to code fobs using my www.pscan.eu or if you are near Brighton www.technozen-electronics.co.uk can supply and program fobs.

To add my 2 pence worth

I can recommend technozen. I sent him my 5AS unit and back came 2 fobs coded to the unit and the EKA code set to my preference. All done over mail. Much cheaper than keep calling out the local car key guy.
