Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Front Bumpers!!!

Post by Dallas » Sat Dec 01, 2018 5:47 pm

Old bumper and crash bar taken off, getting ready for new replacement bumper and crash bar to go on. I'm not sure whether to refit the SEAT Leon front splitter though, I seem to keep catching it on kerbs. Who else has a splitter fitted and how do you get on with it?

There seems to be some difference in TF front bumpers regarding the grill mounts and mouldings. My old bumper has little moulded tab fixings to secure the lower wire grill, these are tiny tabs which are quite brittle.

The replacement bumper has long screw shape fixings moulded into the bumper, the fog lights also have different fixings on the replacement bumper.

Now all back together with replacement crash bar, bumper, new bolts, screws and badge. :D

It looks much better than before, the shut lines are spot on now. I would say the original bumper had been damaged before and resprayed, the colour wasn't quite right, plus the bumper hadn't been put on correctly.

I left off the SEAT Leon front splitter as I prefer the look without it, so if anyone is in the market for a SEAT Leon/Cupra front splitter, give me a shout.

Thanks Ian. :D

She had a slight accident, we didn't want to go through the insurance as they would have written the car off.

I'm just glad we managed to source a replacement bumper and crash-bar in BRG/HFF, ebay is a marvellous tool. :D

Good job - and looks as though MG Rover modified the bumper to rectify that weak tab mounting issue? Or were they deleted as part of Project Drive?
