Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

2010 TF Service Indicator

Post by Neil Rushton » Sat Feb 09, 2019 10:32 pm

I know it's an old chestnut but has anyone ever found out how to delete the service indicator on the "Chinese" TF which doesn't involve visiting an MG dealer?
I know PSCAN will do it but that's an expensive way to go about it?

To the best of my knowledge, outside the dealership network, pscan represents the only way to reset the service indicator. A shame: on the ZTT the service indicator can be reset with a paper clip to short two pins! Unfortunately, it isn't so easy on the TF/ MG3/ MG6 etc.

Rob, can't say anything about the MG3 but on the MG6 it is an easy reset as it is included in the menu system on the 'thumb wheel' on the steering wheel itself. When my local garage reset it last December, they also reset the over speed warning alarm which was a shock once exceeded 70mph for the first time as had major red flashing on the screen  I soon reset that to a more sensible upper speed level :thumbsu:

Isn’t there anyone about oop norf with a PScan to help Neil out?

On the German forum we have a special locked post in the tech sub forum to locate members who offer special services by postcode. Maybe we should start this here as well?
