Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

MGTF Tyres and service

Post by WayneF » Wed Feb 19, 2020 12:59 pm

It's time for a new set of tyres for Monty (135 Cool Blue) and after going dizzy reading various forums I have decided on these:

Front: Falken ZEIX ZE310 Ecorun 195/45 R16 84V

Rear: Falken ZEIX ZE310 Ecorun 215/40 R16 86W

£275 all in

Can anyone yay or nay those please?

Also I would be really grateful of recommendations for MGTF friendly service garages near Alcester?

Thanks in advance.

I use MG Obsession 01283 529914 Matt is the owner, excellent service good prices. What he & his mechanic Tim don't know about MGF's & MGTF's isn't worth knowing lots of quality used spares as well as new parts. Great café over the road.

Cheers

Mike

:thumbsu: Thank you Mike, I will look them up, but Swadlincote is over an hour away.

I'm hoping someone will know someone a little closer to me. Cafe over the road is a bonus though :thumbsu:

Thanks Colin.
It seems Burton on Trent has more than its fair share of MG friendly garages!

I've been using Austin Garages for probably 10 years or so, maybe longer. I know people who travelled from overseas to them as well on a yearly basis :thumbsu:

The upmarket Café is just over the road, just the job while you wait for your car to be attended to. The Café is a real bonus while a proper Quality Job is being undertaken!!!!!! 8-)

Coffee is always important but the job in hand is of paramount importance   :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Cheers

Ali has E310's on the rear of her TF160 (with 914's on the front), fitted several months ago.
Can't say I have noticed any difference from the 914's that were on it before.
I'll be putting set of 310's on my TF later in the year.

Hi all

Just to throw a thought into the mix. I read somwhere that a number of people on their TF's have put the same size tyres all-round with no ill effects! I suspect these would be the rear tyres.

Any thoughts or experience?

Rob

Thanks Steve,

I see you are in Rugby, do you have a preferred service garage?

Have a local garage that does very basic spannering.
For the rest, including servicing, I normally use Austin Garages which is a little over an hour away form us.
We tend to drop a car off on a Saturday and pick it up the following Sat, or sometimes collect the 1st car and drop off a 2nd
