"Modern" MGF tyre recommendations

Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

"Modern" MGF tyre recommendations
The green machine needs new tyres. I've run Toyo T1Rs for many years now, but they are no longer available in Australia. As tyres have evolved greatly since the F & TF were released, what are you running or recommend on your cars now?

For 16" wheels the current recommendation is the Falken Ziex ZE310 Ecorun, which replaced the ZE914 last year.
Quick google suggest you can get Falken tyres is Australia, although https://www.falken.com.au/ still lists the ZE914 not the ZE310.

Agree with Steve's comments above, and in fact run Falkens without issue on my TF, but FWIW, the replacement Toyo TR1's (that replace, and should not be confused with the original T1R's!!!) have received favourable comments from the guys at VHS.

Thanks for your replies Mike & Steve. Unfortunately, neither of those tyres are available here (the ZE914 had bad reviews), so I’ve plumped for some Yokohama’s, which will hopefully act similar to my track tyres.

A friend of mine has Michelin Pilot Sport under his, very content, but we don't have to put homologated tyres on here.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport 3. Unfortunately PS4 is not available in a suitable size for the MGF (I use 205/45 R16 - see http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/tyres/ ... ecommended)
My rule of thumb is to fit the performance tyre of any particular manufacturer's range to the MGF/TF - they both need to run very stiff sidewalls.
For other advice, look to what the buys and girls with Toyota MR2s/MRSs are using - with a similar chassis configuration, what works for them will work for your MG too.
