Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Strange coolant behaviour

Post by Fisher » Mon Mar 15, 2021 9:21 am

Hi All Have replace my PRT and an couple of coolant hoses. Strange when I bleed the system no water comes out of the metal engine rail bleed until the coolant is quite hot. No water is pumping back into the expansion tank after initial start-up.

Have checked for any blockages (blowing into pipe) on the inlet manifold (jiggle valve) all appears clear and not stuck.

It appears that water is being driven via the small engine rail, and all all pipes rubber and metal are hot. (See Update)

Temperature look ok during bleed and rad and radiator all bleed OK.

Any ideas?

Robert

UPDATE: When engine up to temp. All pipes are hot. Small engine rail and feedback to expansion tank. Hoever, Inlet manifold pipe, from manifold (Jiggle)to expansion tank is cold and no coolant being fed back to expansion tank. I think the jiggle is stuck!

Is there any foolproof way of clearing jiggle without removing manifold?
