Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Undoing n/s front box section/ crash can bolt
Anyone got any tips on how to undo the front bolt on the front nearside crash can/ box section it's a real pig to get at with these pipes in the way. I can get get a small ratchet on it but it's got too much play to do anything because it won't click back in such a small space.

I've undo that bolt on both of our Fs (both with a/c) without an issue, although it took a long time. I'd suggest getting your hands on a ratchet that has finer (more) teeth in the ratcheting mechanism.

They are installed on the subframe before it is installed in the car so the easiest way to do the bolt is to drop the subframe.

The question is WHY?
If you plan to remove the whole box section then be warned that I found it impossible to get the box sections back in without dropping the front sub-frame. I had to remove/replace the box sections to do my FCC suspension conversion. In the long run it's easier and not much slower to just drop the sub-frame. It hangs on the radiator pipes, but lowers enough to get the box sections in and out.
I removed the drivers side with some patience with a ring spanner, but the side with the battery is a slightly different shape and there's less clearance to manouver the box section. On the battery side, I just dropped the sub frame. The steering joint is easy to remove and replace, it just clicks back into the right spot and you tighten the retaining bolt.
Then a week later I found I needed to drop the sub frame to get the lower suspension arms out to do the ball joints, so in the end it's easier to just go:
Step One - drop the sub frame!
