Hi All,
As per the title, is the TF temperature gauge normalised or not? I’m asking as the Jag I’ve got has a normalised gauge (so I understand) and I personally think it’s a bit of a cheap thing to do in what was an expensive car back in the day.
There’s someone in the U.S. selling a kit to remove the normalisation and I wondered if it would work with the TF’s.
For anyone who doesn’t know what this means in this context, this is my understanding of the term ‘normalised’ it’s the temperature gauge essentially has three different positions:
1. Clap cold. Bottom of scale.
2. Normal. Within certain limits. Roughly centre of scale
3.Too late mate. Top of scale.
Or are they all normalised?
Regards,
Michael.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Re: Temperature gauge - normalised?
Not normalised but quite heavily damped. The sensor produces an analog resistance in response to temperature which is probably similar to the jag.

Hi Charles,
Thanks for the information. I suspected as such. I was sat in standing traffic yesterday and heard what I think were the engine bay and radiator fans start albeit at different times and didn’t notice any change in the pointer position.
Cheers,
Michael.

That would mean it is all working exactly as it should! ;o)
