Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Nearside Outside Door Handle
The outside door handle has come adrift from it connection, (I can't open the door from outside) I cannot see how it is supposed to connect tp the catch, it is hidden behind the inner skin of the door, I don't what I am trying to find by feel alone. The Workshop Manual doesn't give a clear illustration of what the linkage is like. Can anyone either give me a sketch or picture of what should be there?

Hi John, it is great to see another MMM owner that also has F/TF.

Re: Nearside Outside Door Handle
At least the M-type doesn't have exterior door handles to cause problems! At the moment, I am having problems getting the nearside door to close properly on my M-type - looks like I'll need to dig out the wood working tools to fettle...

Re: Nearside Outside Door Handle
It is - and yes, you're absolutely right - there is MASSIVE flex in both the bulkhead (such as it is on an M-type) and likely also in the chassis.
Currently the car is in the garage on a nice flat floor. The gap is a bit too tight in one place, but it is not too far off...
BTW if you ever need wire mesh headlamp guards, I found a company that will make industrial welded woven filters with a 1/2" spacing for 42 quid a pair - a fair bit cheaper than the £140 usually charged for something similar in chrome plated brass that the usual suspects sell...
