Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

TF upgrades.

Post by MAXTHEDOG » Thu Jul 27, 2023 11:27 pm

Hi All,
As an TF owner of 1 month I’m about to begin some modifications/upgrades.
These will include the coolant alarm kit from B&G, the replacement of the plastic radiator filler cum bleed point and possibly the Mike Satur kit for improving the air flow into the radiator.
My questions are:
Has anyone done the radiator airflow kit? It’s the one with I think four pieces of aluminium. If so what do you think about it?
The original plastic radiator filler thingy apparently can fall apart when attempting to remove it, when I try removing mine and that happens is it just a matter of drilling (carefully) out the remnants?
Regards,
Michael.

In an emergency it is the same thread as a spark plug!

Beware. There are different MGF radiators with different plug sizes. Many years ago a lady arrived at Gaydon with a broken plug.
No problem say I, Here is a new plug. OEM PYP100500. It did not fit. At that time there was only one OEM radiator and plug so I told her that she has an aftermarket radiator. I received an angry response and told that it was a new Original just fitted. It was trailered back to Devon or Cornwall
Even Rimmers sell aftermarket radiators so anyone check what you have.
My spare OEM plug remains in the car
