Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Brand of air conditioning pump

Post by RobboMC » Mon Jan 08, 2024 4:13 am

Can anyone advise the brand of the air conditioning pump in both the F and TF120?

I have a local repairer that if it's a Nippondenso they can rebuilt it.

It appears from the numbers of used ones on eBay they used both Denso and Sanden. You might find a new one for less than a recon, there are plenty of Nissens ones kicking around but shipping and duty might kill that idea

Can you post a link to any new ones?

Rimmes have discontinued it.

They are available new from plenty of sources, the same unit appears to have been fitted to all K$ engined cars ie Rover 200, 25, Streetcar but the only brand seems to be Nissens. Nissens are a big OE manufacturer all over Europe; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115806576612 ... R6arw9KdYw
However these are made in Taiwan

The original a/c compressor, JPB000060, used on the MGF and TF was manufactured by Seiko-Seiki, model VS96DV1, type SS144FV1.

The SAIC TF spec compressor presently available from Rimmer is not compatible with the early cars, the pipe connections are different, but it will mount in place of the JPB000060.

Great thanks.

That covers the TF 120, the big question is will it also fit an F?

Rimmers only list the one ( discontinued ) part number from 1998-2005,
but is this so?

I am not sure if you are responding to my reply but it seems to be like this;
The Nissens 89232 compressor that I linked to fits the following cars that are fitted with the K4 engine, Freelander 1998-2006, MGTF 2002-2008, Rover 75 1998-2005 MG ZR, ZS and ZT all from 2001 to 2005. The earlier Rover 200 and 400 used a different compressor and mounting bracket. and since the MGF was produced during the same years I would presume that it used the same compressor.
Whether you could convert the pipework to a later configuration is a possible option but I suspect having yours rebuilt is the best way forward.

The same compressor, JPB000060, was used on the F and the TF until the end of production. The later SAIC TF compressor that is available from Rimmer will fit the earlier TF and F's compressor mounting points.
