Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Sadly, Brian gave up on this project and ended up buying an Alfa Romeo! Shame! It would have been good to see him finish this project (I gave him a spare subframe and fuel tank!)

I read the whole of this thread last nig,ht the lack of photos does make it difficult to understand the required modifications, although the days of a KV6 engine (or any other V6 engine) swap are almost certainly over it would be good if the photos of the modifications that were done could be added to this thread.

I looked at this a few years ago, had the engine sat in the subframe ready to fit but life got in the way, something that you will need is an early Rover T series oil pump with housing, the KV6 oil filter exists horizontally from the block and hits the subframe, with the T series fitment it exists vertically and clears the subframe, gearbox is easy, use zs180 pg1 box, bolts straight into the F/TF subframe, I should have some conversion bits somewhere, will check at the weekend

A n aftermarket remote oil filter take off might be easier to get hold of?

Not heard of using a T-series oil pump before - sounds like a neat solution! :)

I am not even thinking of doing one but would have been interested in seeing the build photos as far as it got.

My son is building a Toyota MR2 project car and his research from the wide testing done on MR2 cars is that the few V6 cars are slower than the good turbo-4 cars. A decent turbo wound up with lots of boost can have almost the same power as a 6 and the car remains nimble and light.
If I was going to go down this sort of track I'd be heading in the Turbo direction. I once had the joy of owning a Turbo-midships car and it was awesome.
They are now a bit expensive, I should have kept it and sold the wife instead. :sf:

But a V6 is more drivable than I heavily boosted turbo in real world driving.

These days the Turbo kids fit aftermarket ECU chips. My neighbor had a hot WRX for a while, 26 PSI and as docile as a puppy around the courtyard.

But when you let the boost monster loose, well it was WOW!
