Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Re: underfloor coolant pipe
Three options available - two are aftermarket and one OEM.
OEM mild-steel under floor pipes are available from X-Part, so therefore from your favoured X-Part supplier, such as Rimmer Bros.
Aluminium pipes are available from Mike Satur.
Stainless steel pipes are available from Brown and Gammons.
The latter two options should offer more durable alternatives to the OEM item, if not a permanent solution!

Slight correction Rob : Mike Satur did originally sell aluminium under floor pipes, but corrosion and weld issues made him convert to stainless, probably the first on the market - unless anyone knows differentlyRob Bell wrote:Three options available - two are aftermarket and one OEM.

Re: underfloor coolant pipe
A small hole indicates thinning of the wall so if you weld one hole today, then you will have another soon which may cost you a HGF. Forget it.
It is doubtful that you will keep the car long enough to have a failure of new original pipes so the extra cost of Stainless Steel may be difficult to justify although it is not a lot.
The pipes deteriorate from the inside so it is time dependant rather than mileage. Do not think second hand.
All the usual suspects ( Brown and Gammonds, MGF Centre, X-Part, Rimmers etc.etc.) supply & deliver either original or SS.
You should consider that the connecting front and rear rubber coolant pipes will be beyond their use by date. When disturbed, then they need to be replaced at the same time.

As it happens I have the alloy MS pipes - I was an early adopter!
Curiously, Project Shed has copper underfloor pipes. Not my idea - but clearly someone was or knew a plumber! Looks fine - so will retain it... but it might be a thought for others, if they fancy to DIY. It looks like standard domestic pipe - with soldered brackets and nicely swaged pipe ends.
