I had mine done at Camerton Auto Repairs, in Camerton, Bath, on Friday. He took 2 hours ( he asked to have some time to let it settle, due to the high temperature) and charged me £36. Same bloke did my cambelts (mines a VVC) and charged £170 (I supplied the belts & water pump)

Nice bloke, 01761 470416

Done last month in Louth (Lincolnshire) £20 . . . at that cost it's not worth buying a DIY pump off ebay.

My Abingdon had a 'suspension pump up' a month before I acquired the car, in August 2015. I have the receipt that states that - but it doesn't mention 'Hydragas'

Could it possibly be anything else?

and how long does it last before a further pump...?

Thanks

Hydragas is the name commonly associated to the fluid within the spheres. There's no time limit between pump ups but as cars get older the sphere's may leak fluid. if the ride height remains correct on both sides, leave it alone. The two pumping valves govern each side not the four corners so.

Thanks Adrian - so what should the correct height be and how do you measure it?

Correct height is 368mm +/- 10mm at 17C, measured from the front wheel centre to the wheel arch lip vertically above

Note that there is a temperature compensation of 0.4mm per degree Celcius from an ambient temperature of 17 degrees Celcius.

Eh No !!
The 1962 Hydralastic Suspension has rubber spheres and interconnected fluid filled chambers.
Hydragas has gas filled spheres and fluid filled chambers.
The common problem with Hydragas is the loss of fluid causing low suspension. I consider that this may be due to temperature cycles with the car left outside in the winter or more probably the condidtion of UK roads. We include a height check in the 2nd year Service. This was never a problem with Hydralastic.
A rarer problem is loss of the gas. There is a fix to fit a replenishing valve but this does not stop the leak.

Is the Hydragas website/register still being kept update does anyone know?
I sent an email to them to advise a local decent garage that did mine and have not had a reply and the garage is not mentioned?
Cheers,
Andrew......
