Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Door Cards

Post by Lisa Jayne » Tue Oct 09, 2007 12:45 pm

Hi first I'd like to say nice forum :D Only just got used to the old one as being a bit new to all this, but I am sure I will get this one sussed too.

My MK1 F has disintegrating door pods, the fabric has come unattached and leaking sandy looking foam everywhere :o

Is there a way to remove the pods and recover or reglue the original fabric or do I have to get the whole door cards :?: Any suggestions would be must appreciated.

This will tell you how to remove the door card, you can then remove the bit of trim you mention, from behind, quite easily.

Hope this helps,

Iain

Thanks for you help, I think I will save that job for when I am renewing my window stops, and adding some bling to the door locks.
Get it all done in one go and only break my nails once!

Hi Lisa,

This may help too: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/DI ... /index.htm - these are Gareth Hampson's instructions on how to change that door trim pod on a Mk1 to accept a later Mk2/ TF door pod. Thankfully, it looks pretty simple, and in fact should give a better end result than attempting to recover the trim on a DIY basis :)
