That is true... My car is heavily modified but it looks standarish... if you know what I mean. I could take it back to OEM without many problems. The hoops and the scoops are the only outside hints that the car isn't OEM but it has also ULW wheels, 85th anniversary ARB's, arms & Shocks, seam welded and powder coated subframes, Polybushes and a long etc...
From the outside my VVC looks standard from the outside except for stainless mesh grills and tinted indicators from a mk2.

it happens, My MGF Trophy which i ownded up until the end of April has "moved throught the motor trade" and a cetain specialist MGF/TF dealer now has it at just above 3 x what i got for it !
