When we had a new soft top fitted to Cath's F they used the old cables, so logically if they go in they must come out.
If i remember correctly the loop end is fitted over a metal tag which can gently lifted with a flat screwdriver to lift the loop over
I might be completely wrong but hasn't the Ferrule got a small screw that holds the cable into it? If you look at the pic's i posted of of the two cables on the table one end has a flat spot near the end, suggesting it has had a screw tightened on it.
