Mate they're Tan Daytona seats, only fitted to 94 cars and rare as hens teeth. A shame to scrap it, can you break the car?

Appreciate the predicament you're in though- trouble is that they're cheap as chips in running order.

If I had the space, I'd take it...just for the seats

Is the only problem the HGF Tony? I would say your price is fair given the condition of the car shown in the pictures...

thanks Stuart for your input, I think I will replace the head gasket and try again to sell, for me time and space are the issues, I presume the Steptronic is not an attractive car

Hi Rob, I think with a new gasket and the brakes cleaned up it would sail through an Mot, I thought last year I would have time for this and I could not find a space, I would rather sell it than be here again next year with the same post

Hi,
Looks a nice car, how much is it to do the HGF on these cars? Also where in the Thames Valley are you?

About £350 Carl, but get some quotes from the mobile repairers (of which there are a few) :)

Rob, go for it, buy her, you know you want to! An auto box is just too much fun.

I'll confess I'm tempted Mykel, but I think Tony may be fixing this one himself...

Now *If* a night fire auto were to turn up at the right price, then that really would be irresistible!

Hi, it is a nice car, I am going to clean it this weekend and put some decent pictures up, the head gasket will also be replaced in the very near future,

I am in Andover SP10

Hi Tony, you asked for feedback on the Steptronic MGF. My wife had one for a while and it was a real hoot! A really lovely, totally underrated car that was good fun to drive and pretty darn quick too. We were sad to see it go, but needs must when the devil vomits in your soup bowl! If you do get it back in the I think you'll enjoy it.
All the best mate
Phil

What sort of price would you be putting it on at if the head gasket was done? Any more pics?

Cheers

Carl

We have had a couple of steppys and they are great. I am really tempted with this one, not far away either :D

thanks to forum encouragement the car has moved on a bit, I replaced head gasket/thermostat/cambelt at the weekend, next will be oil/filter change and if I get time over the next 10 days it will go for MOT, when I stripped the car I noted that it had a very recent water pump and alternator, I do wonder if a failed water pump caused the HGF.

Looking at the last MOT the car has been very little used over the last few years, check the mileage below

29/01/2010 44982
31/01/2011 46306
30/03/2012 47122
04/05/2013 47671

advisories were both front tyres which have been replaced, there is hope for this car

car has moved on a bit, head gasket/cambelt kit replaced, oil and filter changed, runs very well, I also gave it a quick wash, forgot it had a cream Tonneau cover, found it in the boot, I am going to put it in for an Mot this week and then decide its fate, I really do not have the room

not sure how I am finding time for this, pre Mot check today, noticed new tie rod bushes fitted to the rear, new discs and pads have also been fitted, brake flexible pipe nearside had also been replaced,

nearside front has a new caliper, both fronts have good discs and pads, all ready for Mot now, it seems as though its been prepped ready before I bought the car, hopefully Friday will be the day

I finished my work early today and rang the Mot station on the off chance that they may have a slot for me which they did, great news, the car passed its Mot with two advisories,

nearside track rod end has slight play
slight perishing to front tyres

really pleased
