No room for me to store and play with this at moment..........not mine, spotted for sale recently and went for a peep, could be a good buy for someone:

R Reg BRG MGF VVC
No MOT - weeping brake Master cylinder, poss a small welding patch on OSR sill and needs new exhaust (seen a few on ebay for under £50)
Usual rust on F wings but rest (apart from sill) solid, hood OK but slightly cloudy rear window.
Starts, runs, stops and drives well, no signs of overheating etc after 15 mins - no coolant whiffs either
Front tyres good, rears down to about 3mm
no battery comes with car.
Has cream leather interior and wood trim.

I experian checked car and no nasties there, last MOT expired 2016

PM me if you want sellers number, I reckon he'd accept £250

Popped round again today for another look, dont think sills need doing, its the usual rust holes in front of rear arch (not part of sill - easy repair?)
Both rear arches have some rust - but not terminal.

Surprised no interest either as fixer upper or breaker - what do we think its worth? Interior must be worth £250 plus VVC head................

Bargain, nice people as well.

Damn sight cheaper than same job on a 944 - the water pump was £250!

And is it actually faster than a VVC?

Yeah they were lovely when I spoke to them and they got me booked in for this Wednesday at short notice which is great as my F is my daily driver!

Oh my that's an expensive waterpump! I'm not sure is it faster? You'd imagine so with the Porsche badge on it but then I don't know much about the 944's! There was one where I got my F from but it was in a sorry state, worse than the F was and I decided I wouldn't be able to take it on so got the F instead.

It's been a great journey so far and I've learned a lot, and only had a couple of issues during driving; slave and master seals going, burst coolant hose, snapped gear cable and now the waterpump...I'm sure I'm forgetting something but all in all I've been very lucky given her age and the obvious lack of care taken by previous owners, a few more months of my care and she'll be in tip top mechanical shape and I can begin fixing some of the paintwork!

OK went for a proper inspection this pm, there's a lot more rust than I spotted originally (got under car today) - one sill is totally shot and the other is none too good (rust and big dent), theres also more heavy surface rust under there than my mates old Alfa! Roof is useable but does have a couple of small holes in. Exhust - think Backbox may be salvageable.

So, I might go for it to help raise funds for the Porsche, and hopefully help some other MGFs out there..........if I do is anyone after the following bits I reckon I can get off easily, prices plus P&P and all ONO:
BRG bonnet and bootlid £25 each
BRG doors complete bar door cards £20 each
BRG front bumper (non foglamp one) £35
Set of wheels (two good tyres two 'legal') plus spare £50
Headlamps £25 the pair
Rear lamps £25 the pair
Calipers - £40 the set (brakes work!)
Cream leather seats with green piping, doorcards and steering wheel to match - VGC £250

I cant get engine out myself, so willing to discuss a - remove it yourself price for whole engine/box/Cyl head only - I can lend you an engine hoist, and some ageing muscle.

Anything else salvageable, wings all have rust, slam panel OK, clutch master and slave etc OK, Brake master cyl weeps a bit, twin horns, interior light/mirror roof, etc etc

Car will be near J12/13 Leam Spa area if I get it later this week.

Message me with your number and Ill call you back

Ian

I think £250 for the interior is a bit optimistic. I struggled to get £60 for the mint set of cream leather seats & door cards from my old MK1.

Thanks for that Daz, must admit i'd referred to ebay 'items unsold!!' - must get better reference library!

On the plus side I got £80 for a tatty set of Mk1 leather seats last year (ebay sold within minutes) when I was making one nice car out of two.
