Wanted: MGTF160 Oil Cooler lines PBH000100

Hello from Germany.

I want to upgrade my Trophy to TF160 spec with the original oil water cooler. I bought already two complete sets from ebay last year and also bought everything which was available at R&B (Screws/Nuts/Seals/stainless tube etc.).

The two oil cooler lines I have are in a bad rusty shape. I am trying to get it in "as new as possible" condition.

Anybody has such a part to sell? I offer 200£ for new oil cooler lines. A bit less for a used one in mint shape.
Here a picture what I want:

Part number is PBH000100.

Greetings from Germany

Do you have a set of pipes which could be used as a template for manufacture of new parts..
I’m after the same part, and have been in touch with the MGMANIA.
They inform me they can make up the pipes, however need an original to copy.

Hello Leefy,

These are the two sets I have currently:

I also have two further oil coolers without lines and oil filter socket. My problem is, I cannot disconnect the lines from the cooler. I bought a M23 Open-end spanner just to realise that this is the first screw in inch at the MGF/TF. I guess 15/16 Inch or such thing. M24 is too big, M23 too small. I don´t want to use a Pipe wrench or "english-" / "french-" tool to not damage the screw.

Sending things to UK is at the moment also costly due to tax and stuff.

Can you please PN me your address in case I manage to dismantle the line or find another solution? I cannot promise anything.

I case it is possible to recreate the oil lines by MGMania, I can ask in the german MGF Forum if anybody is also interested to have a replacement item.

Greetings from Germany

Well, Leefy seems to be not available at the moment, but I will have the opportunity to get such an used oil line in the UK.

Anybody has a adress for shipment and Mail from MGMania? Is he maybe in this forum?

Greetings from Germany.

Hey Leefy,

sad to hear that you give up on your MGTF160. Managed to purchase a third complete oil cooler set at eBay.

It is on the way to Germany. Will decide which one I will send to MGMania. Did you already negociate anything with him regarding the rebuild of the oil lines?

Btw.: I finally managed to disassemble the lines from the KTM Coolers with the help of a newly purchased "Engländer" or monkey wrench or adjustable wrench. :D

Hi Tom,

Did you manage to get in touch with MG Mania about the oil cooler pipes?
I’ve now managed to get a used set, so will be looking to get the TF back up to original spec (didn’t sell it).

Hope you managed to get sorted.

Regards

Leefy.

Sounds encouraging! Do let us know how you get on with this!

What I would like is to get hold of a TF oil filter assembly where the oil lines to run from to and back from the cooler. I could use a sandwich plate, but the TF had a neater, integrated solution. And somewhat predictably, these are no longer available from X-Part retailers...

Small update on the topic.

Over a long time I hesitated to send one of my sets to MG Mania due to high shipment prices and risk of losing the package.

But last week finally I decided to go a more expensive way.

I bought this and this Kit and let them send to MG Mania.

So soon he will be able to start to recreate the oil cooler lines hopefully.

Another Info is that I found out the oil cooler line also exists in the Lotus Elise world. There the part number is A117K6005S. I tried to order this on several lotus part suppliers but got the same result as for PBH000100. Not in Stock at X-part.

Lets see the progress.

Greetings from Germany

Hannes

I am sure you could also get similar lines made up by Think! Automotive - but I think you've already got a good solution through MG Mania :thumbsu:

I do not mean to offend anyone but I am sure MGMania will take the pipes to a hydraulic hose manufacturer to have them made up, you may find it both quicker and cheaper to find one locally. Don't try the big franchised outfits like Pirtek but the smaller single outlet ones. We have several within a few miles of Taunton, Somerset Hose are always helpful and carry a good stock of small bore CDS tube for making hydraulic pipes. They lent me their hydraulic pipe bender FOC when I was making a roll cage for an off road buggy for my sons. Rotec are the same but bigger with several outlets but do a lot of marine and railway work. Bridgwater which is only ten miles or so away has at least two, one of which makes braided brake hoses.
