FREE to collect: MGF/TF soft top frame - NOW GONE

Surplus to requirements, I have a soft top frame that is free for anyone to collect from North London.

It has a hood attached, but it has been slashed and annoyingly the rear window has also split - but the frame itself is complete and in good condition.

Who wants a Frame ???. I did a few years ago.
I used to drive across Europe with a Black hood. With temperature in the Higher 30s, I either toasted with it down or Roasted with it up, even with AC.
Next trip we took the Silver HardTop with the Hood folded. It was nicely cool. Arriving back home, the hood had not been up. All that space where there could have bee bottles of wine.
We took the Hood of and GTized the car with only the HardTop. The rear of the Top sits on the Frame so off to the scrappie for a damaged frame ,stripped it down to the side brackets and rear rail. Job done.
It is still a GT.

Well Geoff, Project Shed also only wears a hard top, so I know what you mean… but otherwise I love the soft top and generally drive N7 with the roof always down…

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Early cars up to some point in 1997 had an earlier design which is not compatible with later ones.
The good news is that a later frame fitted with a later hood will fit an earlier car.

So sorry, its gone! Wife did not want it cluttering up the hallway :(

But, for information, this one did come from my 1995-build MGF, although it was a later frame from a much later car. The frames are all backward interchangeable as James says.

Never tried fitting an early frame to a later car - can't see why that would not work? Not that anyone is likely to do that as the early frames are now very rare.
