MK1 speedo cable.

Post by talkingcars » Mon Nov 01, 2021 8:46 pm

I am looking for either the rear or middle speedo cable from a MK1 F.

I only need the inner cable which is easy to extract with the outer cable still on the car.

This is stopping me getting a MOT.

It's usually the rear section that snaps, next to the gearbox drive. Sadly I don't have a spare. Hopefully they are still available from Rimmers?

It's the rear that fails but a replacement can be fabricated from a shortened middle.

Rimmers have cable but they are silly expensive, especially the end one.

What viewers don't realise with Car SOS is that the people who put the cars up actually agree to pay the costs of renovation.

Jeepers - really? That surely cannot be cheap, unless it is done for "TV rates"?

No, the punters pay the going rates but don't have the stress of organising the experts.

Not quite the amazing deal one thought, but hopefully they get a high quality job for minimal effort. Plus 15 minutes of fame...
