Selling APHRODITE - 2004 MGTF 135

Post by Andie » Wed Feb 09, 2011 11:31 pm

As per the title - after 6.5 years of ownership, I'm selling my beloved Aphrodite.

A few here may remember me!

As much as it will break my heart to part with her, she has to go. My business has expanded rapidly and I'm going to become a Grandma in August so I want a car I can take my Grandchild out in for some quality time together!

For sale - the love of my life!

Aphrodite

MG TF 135
Registered July 2004
Owned by me from new
Approximately 89,000 miles
Pearl Black metallic paint finish
Grenadine (red) cockpit
Grenadine Alcantara and black leather seats
Factory-fitted Sports Pack 2 - AP brakes with ABS, 16'' 11-spoke alloy wheels and IMS
Front fog lights
Sony Xplod CD player (MP3 compatible) fitted November 2010
Two key fobs
Heated rear screen relay and dash switch fitted - for use with hard top heated rear screen
Colour-coded hard top available if desired (with garage hanger for storage) - ordered from the factory and delived with the car from Longbridge

Recent work carried out -

Cam belt and water pump service January 2010 (MG Rover Solutions)
Alternator belt replaced at the same time
Head gasket replaced July/August 2010 (Mg Rover Solutions)
New plastic rear screen fitted August 2010 (Pipers of Sparkford)
New clutch and slave cylinder. Cost £800. Work carried out 12.2.11
MOT to 14.9.2011
Tax to 30.6.2011

Fault - Some everyday wear and tear, scuff, small dents etc. The corner of driver's side bumper sporting a small split - the result of hitting a suicidal pheasant! Newly broken front fog (as frome last week...grrrr).

Reluctant sale - my business is expanding rapidly (more space needed to transport equipment) and more seats needed for forthcoming arrival of my grandchild/grandchildren!

£3300 without hard top

£3700 with hard top

Any queries - please send me a message or email me at info@andreaburridge.com . Thanks.

Personal history for those who are interested!

Aphrodite was a gift from my husband following his sudden job redundancy to celebrate 20 years of marriage and my recovery from a serious illness.

Aphrodite is known by many MG-Rover.org members as well as the F Register (I was South Coast rep for some time). We have enjoyed a wonderful social time together over the years, taking part in many road runs such as F-ing the Bridges, Kempenrit, The Day BeFore, The Arctic Circle Run 2010 and numerous local meets and runs.

We both represented the manufacturing year of 2003 (despite being a 2004 car!) in the official NAC relaunch cavalcade at Longbridge on 29th May 2007. A few links below -

Andie, sell the grand-children not the car, remember your words black is black but pearl black is special.

If anybody is interested I remember this car well and the care lavished on it, although I haven't seen it for some time I doubt the owner would let it detiorate.

Good luck Andie, I hope an enthusiast buys it and it stays it in the Club, a perfect buy to upgrade from an F maybe ?.

MGFs and TFs are great for the kids - mine only ever want to go in the "Broom Broom Car"! Forward facing seats seem fit well (Mamas and Papas in our case), and occupant safety is good on Euro NCAP data (shame they didn't test child seats at that time).

Georgous car :D

X-ACT-LY Rob! My daughter has also turned into a real MGF maniac, especially when the sun is out and I take the roof down. :thumbsu: She will be 9 in June and Mum’s Meriva is definitely not the car to take, unless extra space is needed.

And in our case, as she is in the to-be-expected driver’s seat (I have a RHD one in Germany) she would like to have a Maggie Simpson steering wheel fitted to confuse the approaching drivers.

Mine are 3 and 6 - and it's a bit of a battle who gets to be in the roof-down car when that's an option. Perhaps, when Project Shed is road-worthy, they'll both be able to go in an MGF each...

Love the idea of a extra stick-on steering wheel!   :thumbsu:

Hi Tall_Bloke!

Now this is going to sound insane - especially as I am a full-time photographer...but I haven't got any proper pics of the interior...BUT....if you wouldn't mind being patient I will take some on Saturday or Sunday. I am booked to work all day tomorrow and then I'm off to Yeovil to put the deposit down on my new car...so won't be able to get any decent snaps until the weekend.

If you want any more details, just email me at info@andreaburridge.com

Adrian - lovely to 'see' you again! I couldn't possibly sell the grandchildren!!! LOL! I do need the new car for business...if I could afford to run Aphrodite and the new car, I would....but not at the moment. Be warned though....I have a strong suspicion that in a couple of years or so I will be back in the fold!

And Rob, if I had a second car for my business, I'd keep her for sure...it has taken me a whole year to get to this point of putting her up for sale! She was supposed to have been sold last March...but I forced my husband to let me keep her!

Mykel - I love the idea of your daughter confounding oncoming traffic with her Maggie Simpson steering wheel....made me smile! :)

Come on Andie....I can get the whole studio in my F, admittedly only on dry days, or the 4m backdrops tend to go a bit soggy!!  Must admit I would love to do an upgrade on mine, but the timings all wrong for me.....

Guys, behave!!! I have to say goodbye to her... :( My other half has been nagging me for over a year...and he does have a point! I have to borrow the Navara at the weekends for trade fairs and it's driving him nuts as he can't look round his sheep in my TF!

Hi Andie, considering the sentimental attachment, is there any way of keeping it and having it off the road for a while and getting the new business car as well??

Unfortunately can't afford to keep Aphrodite and buy another car.... :(

I wish I could but it just isn't possible.

My new car has now been ordered so I'm looking to sell Aphrodite before mid March if possible. :)

A big bump up.

I am looking for a sale before the second week in March as my new car will be arriving then. The price is negotiable - obviously - and I can sell with or without the colour coded hardtop.

I haven't had the chance to get more photos of her as I've been working away from home a lot recently and have spent today feeling sorry for myself after nasty dental treatment!

I will be taking photos of her tomorrow and posting them here.

If anyone is interested in possibly buying her, please send me a pm and I'll send you a contact number!
