Re: Mems3 mapping
At the mo my 160 is running on a 135 ecu but the emissions are out a bit. Put the 160 ecu in but I don't have the 5as unit for it. Just wondered if the 135 could be given the 160 map.

Re: Mems3 mapping
As talking cars says, but a little info further you will have to go back to the original VVC ecu, as the 135 ecu does not have the hardware to drive the VVC advance and retard hydraforce solenoids, so at the moment you'll be well down on power. There are also many other mechanical differences that will affect the emissions to which the 135 ecu is calibrated to.
Synchronising the ecu to the 5as is a simple 15 minute job with someone equipped with a T4, so we'll worth doing, should cost no more than a second hand set of ecu's!
Also of note is to keep the ecu software up to date (better cooling fan control and drivability), the VIN entry is critical too and also if the car has air con, ABS brakes all have a factor on the software loaded. This is why it's not worth guessing with used ecu's unless you are sure about the donor car's configuration.
From experience of a few other cars that have had the ZandF tuning carried out, this consentrates more on the basic running software and not that the other factors are up to date and the correct configuration.

Re: Mems3 mapping
Hmmmm, the 160 ecu I have is the one for the engine, but I don't have the matched 5as unit. So, what you're saying is, I can have my 135 5as unit reprogrammed to suit my 160 ecu?

Re: Mems3 mapping
Coolio, so need to find someone with T4 or try and download some software and get a lead and have a bash myself. Thanks for your help guys.

Re: Mems3 mapping
Would be nice if I was keeping the car, but for that money I could buy a matched ecu, 5as & transponder from EBay.

Once is enough. Won't be getting another.

Re: Mems3 mapping
Well, spoke to Trophy Cars today who said my Pektron couldn't be matched to my 160 ecu, but they did make an offer on the car. Then spoke to Mark at Z&F who said no probs and I also settled on having the re-map done at the same time. Costs a bit more, but lots less hassle for me.

Re: Mems3 mapping
Interesting statement from Trophy Cars, considering you said your car has the Lucas 5AS system! Just for the record, the security link for the Lucas and Pektron system can be resynchronised to the Mems Ecu, straight forward operation with the correct diagnostic kit. Also good to know that this is what makes our cars very secure from a theft point of view...cavaddict wrote:Well, spoke to Trophy Cars today who said my Pektron couldn't be matched to my 160 ecu, but they did make an offer on the car. Re: Mems3 mapping
Yes, think that was my bad. The car has the Pektron on it and the oval key fob. The 160 ECU had the 5as with the square fob and I was getting it all mixed up! Been one of those weeks.

Re: Mems3 mapping
Ok, well if you're taking the car and Ecu to ZandF, then hopefully he will start from scratch and make sure the VIN is correct along with the other configuration info from the car as well as the go faster bit and security resynchronise.

Marks asked me to post him the ECU. Does he also need VIN info too?

Re: Mems3 mapping
If the Ecu is not original to your car, then I would certainly send it with a note with your VIN and if your car has ABS and air conditioning fitted or not. Hopefully he'll be able to sort that out for you.

Re: Mems3 mapping
The immobiliser code formats are the same for the 5AS and Pektron SCU (also for the Land Rover 10AS and 27VT), so any MEMS ECU can be security matched to any of these immobiliser modules, although T4 may throw a fit if the
matching is being done via a VIN.
matching is being done via a VIN.
Re: Mems3 mapping
Don't think it's being done via a VIN as such. When I had the Vectra mapped my spare ecu was also given my corresponding VIN so everything was totally matched.
