Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

tf 135 central locking issue
Hi
On a 135tf 53 reg.
I have a passenger door that will not unlock.
It seems to be deadlocked as the sill button will not unlock it.
The key fob will lock the car, but will not unlock it
The key will unlock the car, but only unlock the drivers door.
The car can be started ok.
The problem started after the battery was changed on the car.
When the new battery went in, it locked the car and the alarm sounded briefly.
the problem may have been there before, but I never lock the car.
Rural france for you.
I have seen posts about the microswitch in the drivers door. where is this?
Or other ideas?
Dave

I took the car for its french MOT today, passed except Co2 reading was 0.7 when its a 0.3 max.
Inspector thinks it might hvae an ex leak before the lamba sensor?
history is that last week we put a new head gasket with timimg belt and water pump.
Used a good head from a 1997 120 bhp car had it skimmed , and used the cams etc from the 135.
Apart from that no issues.

Re: tf 135 central locking issue
Doesn’t the 1997 head have drillings for the manual tensioner?
Well, anyway. It might be an issue with the microswitches but I doubt this, as the passenger lock only has one of them, indicating that the door is either open (closed circuit on switch) or closed (open circuit), which shouldn’t affect the system in the way you describe it. The central locking is driven via two of the relays (or rather one and a half, as they are dual relays) on the circuit board inside the Pektron unit, and these relays are known to break.
Best go to Paul Brown’s website https://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk, he sells both the relays and the special security tool needed to remove the unit. All information is given there.
