The only mgf with a straight towing loop...wow. No speed bumps at your place?!

Replaced soft top roof with a mint second hand one, including Renovo treatment.
Just on the look out for a glass screen next.
Also upgraded my centre console to a later type.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Lower front ball joints were an advisory last year so was going to get my garage to do them as I knew it is a balls aching job. However the lock down means I have plenty of time so have been doing it myself with the help of the online How To's. Wow, what a so and so of a job! Angle grinder working overtime, grinding wheel almost worn away - those rivets must be made out of the hardest material known to man. Whilst waiting for the TCT drills I have ordered to arrive, thought I would give my newly sharpened HSS drills a go - total waste of time hardly made a mark!
Not a job to tackle unless you have lots of time, I reckon, so perfect right now!

Beautiful day here, blue sky, sun shining, so I dropped the roof off, found my cap under the seat, backed car out of garage and went for a lovely drive.
There being no mail I hopped back in and drove back to the garage. Enjoy your Easter at home.- Swampy

I needed to drop Smurfette's alternator to a friend, so it was "essential travel" in the Green Machine. I managed to turn a 40Km drive into a 160Km blast through the mountains. Perfect autumn day on Mt Tamborine!

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
As the instrument surround in the Green Machine is broke (& held in with race tape) I thought I’d take the “good” surround out of Smurfette. It did have a couple of repaired cracks, but the bottom screw points were fine!
Unfortunately, a previous owner had used super glue on the screw, so trying to remove the “good” instrument surround left me with an instrument surround in 6 pieces.
Now I’m glueing it back together (thankfully polycarbonate/ABS so super glue works) before adding extra strengthening.
I’m now sourcing a newish replacement cluster.
I think I’ll just go back to blasting through the countryside!

And my lad has been stripping the dead MPi we had been planning to rebuild as a father/son project but it was too far gone, anyone need anything?

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
I was given an advisory of a small patch of corrosion on the rear silencer box last "contrôle technique" so I thought I would have a look and see what was needed. The Cat was replaced not too long ago and the flange bolts were easily removed (thank goodness). Quite rightly there was a small perforation in the underside of the box and a slight separation of the welded seam across the top.
To be fair, not much at all seeing as the box is the original and the car will be 24 years old in a few weeks, but for the sake of expediency I decided to replace it. I have ordered a pattern mild steel replacement from a German company - I paid 95€ plus 15€ delivery (and that includes the tailpipes and a fitting kit). I have bought exhausts of this firm in the past and their quality is good.(unfortunately they don't post to the UK)
The old box needs a small patch welding on, as well as a few tacks on the long seam. With a coat of heat resistant paint it can sit on the shelf as a useable spare, just in case.
Anyone else still got their original box after 24 years and 110K miles?

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Made an additional webbing pocket to go in the boot to supplement the MG one I bought recently
Also fitting mudflaps at the front to try and protect the fronts of the sills which are stripped of paint by the salt and grit on the roads at this time of year.

lucky chap, it's not getting much above freezing here in the good old UK. Definitely not top down weather yet
