Basingstoke Festival of Transport - 9th May 2010
The annual Basingstoke Festival of Transport organised by the Thornycroft Society will take place at the War Memorial Park, Basingstoke on Sunday 11th May 2010.
The MGF Register will have a stand there again this year and a number of tickets are available to F Register members.
This is a great show which attracts a wide variety of vehicles of all ages and is a great opportunity to show off our MGF/TFs.
The show starts at 1100 and finishes at 1700. Vehicles will need to be in place by 1030 and no vehicle will be allowed to move until the show finishes at 1700 so it is a full day event if you are planning attending.
Tickets are per car not per person as entry to the event is free.

HI Guys, I know I usually attend this, but I might not make it this year, sorry. I have a little surgery coming up soon, and thats going to keep me off the road for a while. I might not be able to drive on the day...but if I can get a friend to give me a ride I'll come along and bring cake...
cheers

Mike, sorry to hear about the surgery. Nothing too serious I hope.
You'll be very welcome on the stand - particularly if you bring cake.
Hope to see you on the day.
See you in your car at next year's event.

Re: Basingstoke Festival of Transport - 9th May 2010
Might be a daft question, but is there only one entrance to the park on Sunday?
Google maps show the road in as Crossborough Hill is this the right entrance?
cheers

Re: Basingstoke Festival of Transport - 9th May 2010
Entrance to the event is through the Crossborough Hill entrance just off London Road. There will be yellow AA signs pointing you in the right direction for those of us who are not familiar with Basingstoke.
Just a reminder that all cars need to be in position by no later than 1030.
Let's hope for some better weather than we had at the Abingdon Air Show.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Re: Basingstoke Festival of Transport - 9th May 2010
In previous years, I've gotten there between 9 and 9:30. Its obvious when you are in the right place as you join a long queue of vintage vehicles...and they have people directing traffic. Last year, I was the first there, and the biggest problem was finding which part of the field belonged to the F register!
It looks unlikely that I will get there...am still bed bound at the moment. Have a great time everyone!!

Re: Basingstoke Festival of Transport - 9th May 2010
Thanks, Mike.
It was a bit grey and cold but at least it remained (mostly) dry. A good turn out of vehicles again but I think the public turn out was a bit down on last year. Probably due to the weather.
Hope your recovery is going well.
