Re: MGF Register Digital Photo Competition
The different classes should still stand out even if the photos are mixed up but as Rob is arranging the printing and display of the photos I am not sure how he will be doing it this year.

Re: MGF Register Digital Photo Competition
The pic of the MGA I'm seeing slightly cropped on the right hand side. What I can see of it looks good though.
Like the second pic too. I like a bit of movement in my photographs. Panning is a tricky one to get right sometimes. I've been getting a lot of practice this year though. Nice work.
Sorry they didn't make it onto the board at Gaydon. That's a shame.

the MGA's pic you can move the horizontal and vertical sliders to see the full pic (thats the 1st time ive tried to upload onto here so operator error.
Agree, nothing worse than a moving object looking stationary in a photo (like a race car looking parked up!) playing with shutter speeds can also help - blurs teh spokes of the wheels like in the M Type photo above

Re: MGF Register Digital Photo Competition
Your quite right about the sliders, Colin. Operator error this end by the looks of it. I usually click the image when it's got sliders and it removes the sliders and enlarges the image to full size. Works on you second picture but not the first. It chops the right hand side of the picture off when I click it. Weird.
Didn't see the second A hiding behind the sliders. Great phot from what looks like a great event. Would love to do that one of these years.
Been practicing with different shutter speeds whilst panning at different events with varying degrees of success. There's definitely a knack to it. Alas and alack it's a knack I lack to paraphrase Ken Dodd.

I'm just glad it's on digital and not film. It would be costing me a fortune.

Re: MGF Register Digital Photo Competition
They look like great shots....as they didnt make it this year there is nothing to stop them going in next though
Sadly, I have to confess that even the pros dont get panning right everytime.....as you say, practice is the only way!! I used to be able to get an F1 on the Hanger straight sharp, but it is so long since I was there I am well out of practice, and some of my shots from Cholmondsley just got deleted sraight from the camera...and they weren't even going that fast I will have to get out there more and do it again sometime!!

Re: MGF Register Digital Photo Competition
See you at Oulton Park for the MGCC Trophy Race meet next year then Simon?
I guess it is one of those skills you have to practice all the time otherwise you lose the co-ordination and technique. Great fun though.
I have to say, I was impressed with all the photographs entered this year. I thought the standard, both visually and technically was very high. It's a shame a lot more of those photographs won't make it onto the calendar. I don't think there were any that didn't deserve to be in the calendar. Took me ages to decide where to put my vote.
Well done to all who entered. Keep snapping.

Re: MGF Register Digital Photo Competition
The main winners of each category were announced on Sunday at the end of the show.
Those chosen to go in the calendar will not be revealed until the calendar has been printed. It usually gets revealed at the Xmas Awards Lunch at the Dog House, which this year is on Sunday 5th December.
Until then everyone is in suspenders.

As long as it is a classic, it is already covered in class C of the competitionPaul wrote:oooo ooo oooo dam no TF, can there be an "others Cars Category"

Re: MGF Register Digital Photo Competition
I am sure they will be updated on to the MGF15 web site in time like last year. All the winners for all the competitions went on the Fest09 site. You just need to be patient as we would all like a little breather to get over last weekend first.colintf wrote:
