Well - I'm 61, but since my bathroom mirror has 'Residual Image Sustainment (TM)' I look about 18.

Average age ? Well my first (as an owner) an MGBGT was when I was in my thirties since then another MGB then the F - bought new in 1995, delivered in 1996 - loads of others in between - now in my seventies!
Drove MG back in the fifties BUT not mine couldn't afford one on RAF pay !

Much closer to 60 than 50, although my fifties seem to have brought me cars that I have both wanted to and enjoyed owning

Re: Age is just a number...or is it?
I was actually infected with the British sports car virus at the age of 5, when I used to be driven round my beloved home town (Hamburg) in a red Spitfire. Our neighbour owned one and when he was home (naval engineer) he took me to the harbour to inspect his ship.
Guess it's just another early childhood trauma that had to be paid to. Now I am just 40 years older and after a short stray to the Jap side (Suzuki Swift Cabriolet to confess ) some ten years ago, I now finally made it: Lilibet came into my life last December and we are now looking forward to living happily ever after .

Re: Age is just a number...or is it?
Not telling, but I was 25 when I bought my MGB and as I still own that car I cant be much older can I? Well mentally anyway. I just wish the years ahd been as kind to the driver as to the car. The TF is my second MG ever and I know several MGCC owners with similar histories, it makes you sorry for the MG Sales Director, they sell you a car you really like it and keep it and it doesnt go out of fashion, it just becomes a classic.

Re: Age is just a number...or is it?
I'm enjoying my first MG(F) in my mid-life crisis years (50s) . Started on motorbikes when I was 16 and had one or more bikes all my life except for a couple of years when our sons were really young.
I recently sold my Royal Enfield Bullet and my Suzuki 1200 Bandit after becoming disillusioned with the police force's attitude to bikes and bikers. I was sick of being pulled into lay-bys for "a chat" when the cars were being waved past.
Must say I'm not missing the bikes at all, mainly due to having the MGF. The missus thought I was barmy when I stuck on a personalised 'plate with the words "Mid-Life Crisis" below the reg no.s.

Re: Age is just a number...or is it?
I think Im in the upper part of the lower end at 33... fast coming up to 34...
Its not the first VVC engined car I owned, the other was a 200Vi, same engine different amount of smiles for your miles though ))))))))))))))))
Im getting about 22MPG out of my VVC, which makes it the most econimical car I own now, the others being a 2.4 5 cylinder, 3.2 v8 and a 3.3 v6 liters...

Re: Age is just a number...or is it?
Oh wow, I guess I'm one of the youngest at 18 then?
Not so many years ago my dad had an MG Midget (amongst other interesting cars) which I loved, so I guess that's part of the reason why I'm currently undersealing my F and not sticking a massive exhaust on a Saxo

You're just a child, Ryan - but a child with a great deal of sense.

I bought mine at 24. They say youth is wasted on the young, but I made the most of mine with a suitable car to enjoy it in

I had one of those but I didn't think it would count. Was yours the 2.0ltr EFi?

Re: Age is just a number...or is it?
I have had 6 MGs thus far.
It started with an MGC GT back in 1973, which I took to South Africa with me.
This was followed by a B Tourer in 1976 or 1977, and then a Midget around 1981. This was bought to keep my Stag company ...
On returning to the UK I bought a Metro Turbo in 1983, and in addition a Montego Turbo in 1985
These had both left 'the stable' by the end of the 80s, there then followed an interregnum of almost 20 years before I acquired my TF in 2008.
Now just short of 60, this one's here to stay

Re: Age is just a number...or is it?
Die-hard.
I like that.
Good film, too.
For the record, Dad had a Midget back in the 60's - customised, British Racing Green,
lovely little mover - and that was my first MG drive.....illegally, of course, me being 'slightly'
under the age limit.......but did we care ?
Did we S*"^%$*"!?!
