Ahh, Pitlorchy ... been there in May.
Is there a mailing list for the Highlander Tour 2011 ?
I am really interested, but don't know yet if I can make it.

Re: Highlander 2011......
The routes for the HIGHLANDER 2011 are just about complete. Still a couple of wee bits and bobs to tidy up.
They have been created on Google Maps (still getting the hang of Google Maps )
The links will be posted soon. Im hoping this allows members to input the routes onto SAT NAVS etc prior to the event.

Re: Highlander 2011......
Here are the HIGHLANDER 2011 routes
They have been split into four maps, one for Saturday am and pm and the same for the Sunday route. They have various waypoints which if followed, we should all be on the same route!
SATURDAY 7TH MAY - AM
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en& ... 755066&z=9
SATURDAY 7TH MAY - PM
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en& ... 510132&z=8
SUNDAY 8TH MAY - AM
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en& ... 510132&z=8
SUNDAY 8TH MAY - PM
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en& ... 510132&z=8
These maps can be copied onto your Sat Navs (Tom Tom and Garmins) by using "TYRE". Instructions below. I have a Garmin nuvi 265W and it wasnt very good at transferring the maps to. It saved all the waypoints, but did not link them to be a 'route' and I find Garmin not very good at creating multi stop/multi desitnation routes.
Alternatively, by viewing the routes on the screen you may be able to input the waypoints and route directly onto your Sat Navs.
TYRE needs to be downloaded onto your compluter. I saved mine on the desktop to fins it easily again. TYRE link . . .
http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/download.php
Have the links to the HIGHLANDER 2011 routes handy to copy and paste later.
Open TYRE.
Click on the Tools menu, choose Preferences and under the General tab set the Default (at bottom of the page) to suit the device you have, i.e. Garmin or Tom Tom.
Click File and 'Import from Website'.
Copy and paste the URL for the google map from Google Maps. The URL can be found far right by clicking "Link". The URL is highlighted blue.
On TYRE, paste the URL into the address bar at the top.
Then click on Import.
Google Maps will open within Tyre.
Click on Import again (Bottom right of the page)
Tyre will appear with a list of Waypoints in the main window. Remame them at this point if you wish. I numbered mine i.e. Sat am 1 start, SAT am 2, SAT am 3 etc with the last one SAT am FINISH.
Click on File/Save As and save the file in either *.itn (TomTom) or *.gpx format (Garmin)
Connect your Garmin to your computer, then from the menu bar in Tyre select Garmin (or Tom Tom), followed by 'Copy to Garmin (or Tom Tom) and the file will be saved on your Garmin (or Tom Tom).
Good Luck!

Re: Highlander 2011......
Registration for The Highlander 2011 via the online shop will close this Thursday just before the event.
Anyone still not registered with us please do so, failing that, you will have to pay Tim in person on the event itself.

Which, having failed to negotiate the online shop for whatever reason , is what we're going to do - by prior arrangement of course!Keith Williams wrote:Anyone still not registered with us please do so, failing that, you will have to pay Tim in person on the event itself.
See you all in Pitlochry!
